Gepel is a trio founded in 2006. The music is characterized by its original way of playing different popular music languages from Latin America with the traditional jazz sound texture. Their repertoir is based on original compositions and arrangements of some important american composers, offering an amazing journey through music, playing from an Argentinian zamba by Gustavo Leguizamon, or a Victor Young´s ballad to a traditional Brazilian samba by Milton Banana. Agustín Strizzi – Musical Director Born in Buenos Aires, in 1978. Started studying drums and percussion with Facundo Ferreira (´94-´00), Quintino Cinalli (´01), Got his Marketing Degree title in Universidad de Palermo (`97 - ´00). Got his Music Degree Title in ITMC (Instituto Tecnológico de Música Contemporánea) (´01-´03). He studied with Eduardo Casalla (´04), Arrangements & Composition with Juan Carlos Cirigliano (since ´06). In 2003 traveled to New York, got classes with John Riley, Peter Retzlaff and Ian Froman. During 2004 he participates in XXII Curitiba´s Music Workshop in Brazil. At that time, he studied with Nenê, Robertinho Silva and got group practice lessons with Mauro Senise and Paulo Russo. During 2005 he traveled to La Habana, Cuba and studied with Enrique Plá, Yaroldy Abreu, Ramsés Rodríguez and Emilito del Monte Jr. With Sebastián Zanetto, they performed at Festival Internacional Jazz Plaza 2005 in La Habana, Cuba. In Buenos Aires, Festival de Música por la Identidad in 2004 organized by Madres de Plaza de Mayo. With Ruben Ferrero, they presented his record “Luz Cardinal” in most of Buenos Aires jazz stages, and share presentations with Alejandro Demogli and Pablo Ledesma among others. With Pablo Satek, they performed at Festival de Jazz de Buenos Aires 2003 and Primer Encuentro de Jazz Independiente in 2005. With La Cuerda Floja they performed with Beto Satragni Group in La Trastienda, with Nora Sarmoria and César Franov.
